Seismic Vulnerability Assessment of an Urban Historical Complex. The case of the Yungay Neighborhood of Santiago de Chile
Main Article Content
Abstract
The research presented in this article focuses on analyzing the seismic vulnerability of historical urban complexes, viewed as "complex systems" of significant material and immaterial value. These complexes are exceptionally vulnerable and risk permanent loss in the event of an earthquake.
The article aims to address the complexity of these complexes by developing a specific vulnerability assessment model that helps understand their behavior, anticipate and categorize potential damages, and translate these insights into valuable inputs for public policies on the prevention and conservation of urban territories. This endeavor involves an interdisciplinary approach, integrating engineering science and diagnostic tools with architectural typological, spatial, and formal studies.
