It analyzes the characteristic features of the linguistic identity of the Ecuadorian emigrants represented in the stories published in the last three decades. Based on the conception of linguistic identity as a process in permanent construction, reconstruction, change transformation and the use of the methodology of documentary bibliographic research, it is concluded that there is a complex but fruitful representation of linguistic identity in the short fiction works studied. The results of the investigation are presented in four sections: communication difficulties, due to ignorance of the language of the national states of destination; strategies used by Ecuadorian emigrants, while learning the new language to be able to intercommunicate; differences in the speech of Spanish, between Ecuadorians and natives of Spain; and assimilation of Spanish speech as an integration strategy for Ecuadorian emigrants.
