Abstract

The purpose of the author -as suggested by the title of the article­is to discuss the concept of structure as a basic one in structuralism. To achieve this, the author reviews a definition of the term and analyzes, through examples, the implications of such definition considering phonological, lexical, semantic, morphological, syntactic and graphemic aspects of the Spanish language. Finally, the author stresses the difference between system and structure, which are sometimes used as synonyms
