Abstract

This work tries to represent the discourse interactions of young Chilean speakers in a semi-spontaneous conversation. Through its analysis, the author tries to reveal the social representations underlying them. The descriptive study reveals the beliefs of the self and others, as they contribute to the building of meaning, showing characteristics of power, solidarity, affiliation and identity in reference to the society in which they take place.

Español de Chile y de Argentina, grupo de investigación conformado por académicos de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata (Argentina) y de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. 2 Es importante señalar que no se puede identificar el léxico juvenil con el léxico que emplean determinados sectores juveniles para hablar en determinados contextos tales como el colegio, la universidad, el grupo de amigos, etc., con el propósito de ironizar, rechazar algún aspecto de la cultura o cuestionar la sociedad e instituciones, etc. Las unidades léxicas utilizadas por los hablantes de nuestro corpus forman parte de los diversos recursos expresivos que les permite el contexto y que están disponibles según las variables etaria, sociocultural, geográfica, etc. Los mismos individuos recurren a tradiciones léxicas diferentes en otras situaciones comunicativas, por ejemplo, cuando hablan, con personas no pertenecientes a su generación –padres, profesores, jefes– o con individuos ajenos a su grupo social o geográfico o en circunstancias que hacen aconsejable un tipo de solidaridad lingüística diferente.
