Abstract

In this study the authors present the brief Latin drama Amor parricida, a work by the Bavarian priest Franz Lang (1654-1725). Characteristic sample of baroque jesuitic dramatic art, it advises the risks –in this and the other life– involved in being too indulgent with young people. The translation we offer, made from a volume printed in Munich in 1717 but found in the Recoleta Dominica of Santiago in 1998, testifies German influences on musical and scenic activity during the colonial period in Chile.
