Abstract

This brief presentation acknowledges the need of a theoretical and methodological approach for the study of language diversity. It suggests designing a linguistic working methodology centred chiefly in the implementation of practical workshops in Linguistics. It offers several recommendations to address linguistic contrastivity on the basis of relevant theoretical principles, such as the Chomskian paradigm of parameter and Joseph Greenberg's typological postulates. Thus, the article tackles the issue of the principles underlying the universal mechanics of languages and the ideas about the "universal menu" proposed for these by Mark Baker.
