Abstract

This article analyzes how the use of second person plays a key role in the way the Argentinian musical genre called “Cumbia Villera” establishes - through the lyrics of its songs- a cut between own and foreign. By using Teun Van Dijk’s distinction between endogroup and ingroup, and articulating Michel Pécheux’s vision of the relationship between emitter and receiver, the article explores the wide variety of real links these terms. The result of this approach shows the combination of forms by which the identitary action leaves its track in the discursive expressions and valorizes, in this way, the image of the own group.
