This article refers to a sociolinguistic analysis carried on a randomly selected sample of [the equivalent to] Letters to the Editor from the Chilean newspaper “El Mercurio”. The linguistic analysis centered on the sender of the letter, the topic, the direct addressee and the indirect addressee.
