Abstract

The massive generation of content, which needs to be translated, demands tools that produce fast and good quality translations. LSPs have responded to this challenge by adopting MT-based technologies, which, in turn, requires translators to specialize in this field. However, translator training institutions seem not to be keeping pace with this trend. Therefore, this study intends to describe the state of MT and its uses, tasks and didactic applications, in order to stimulate the discussion about its introduction or improvement in the translation curriculum.
