Abstract

This article is a study of the euphemistic connotations that technical terminology acquires in certain contexts such as Mental Health. A brief description of some reasons for its use will serve as a base for an analysis about its impact in relations between medical staff and patients, as well as the implications of these euphemistic connotations in translation and interpreting processes. This analysis is based on theoretical aspects both from discourse analysis and translation studies. According to this framework, I will try to point out some of the problems the usage of these terms creates in the aforementioned disciplines in order to suggest possible solutions
